Houston Electricity Companies Chart an Unknown.

Electricity use is shifting as more people work from home, schools close, and restaurants and bars shut down to fight the spread of the coronavirus.
Innowatts, a Houston-based energy analytics company, predicts that daily residential energy use during the coronavirus outbreak will increase by 6 to 8 percent as more people stay home from work and children are home from school.
Households on fixed-rate plans who pay for power on a per-kilowatt basis can expect higher power bills reflecting the increase in consumption.
But overall, energy use is expected to decrease as the nation fights the pandemic, reflecting less commercial power demand as offices, stores, theaters, theme parks and other businesses close. Electricity demand from schools will likely drop by 30 percent, and commercial buildings are expected to cut their electricity consumption by 21 percent, according to Innowatts.
